And no, it will not be exported to North America.

Some details taken from the press map:

Independent rear suspension >> It will almost certainly provide a better ride and comfort then the Prius 3.
HV battery seated underneath the rear seats. Trunk volume 360 l. Sports Tourer may be > 500 l!
    Improved noise insulation.
Improved Hybrid System with pedal control more related to engine rpm and at speeds up to 50 mph an increased proportion of EV operation (like the Prius C).
Higher quality interior with a luxury high-end version with specific leader.color finish.

In Europe, break versions often sell out liftback versions, so that seems to be a good move. It's the first hybrid break on the market! The Sports Tourer will be available only in the third semester of 2013.

Toyota not shipping cool cars to US is another reason I'll be looking at a Ford C-MAX Energi vs. Toyota Plug-in that I can't get with a sun roof or other options....all standard or available as easy to add options on the Ford.

Flan, what is the origin of the term "brake" for that configuration of car?

    Edit: Wiki to the rescue.

p.s. this is level 2 equipment, out of 4, so basically "base model" other than fleet one that I dont think anyone but fleets will get.

    and a DIESEL!

But the driver likes the solid built, the materials, the ride, the steering, the quiteness.

You'd think we'd see Diesel hybrids in EU due to the greater acceptance of Diesel and the increased tax advantages of hybrids.

Waiting patiently for my Volvo V60 AWD Diesel/Hybrid/EV at 120 mpg.

Peugeot has several models called Hy4. I think Mercedes and BMW too, but I am not in for those. In Europe, Diesel is dominant in these market segments.

Just visit Peugeot UK or Fr.

there is no extra tax benefit though, other than what they can already get... otherwise, diesel and hybrid is not that compatible from the price, emissions, reliability, and general drivetime smoothness.... Peugeot has few models but they are not that well accepted.

In France (but where else?), they sell as many as Toyota sells hybrids...
