What sort of miles per charge do you get with the PiP? What level charge facility did you install at home and is it cost-effective with L:IPA kWh rates? Thanks.

With a full charge, in warm weather I get 12 all EV miles on a plug-in charge. Overall, after a full charge, in 50 degree plus weather I was averaging 66 mpgs on a full tank if I kept the car in HV mode. With daily overnight charge. My PSEG-LI bill didn't go up. Usage increased 4kw a day on average. I'm not soft on the gas pedal. Drive it like a regular car. But now it's garaged. Waiting for a buyer. Not using it these days. Trying to keep the miles at 49k. No charge facility added at home. Just a regular 120v plug. Car comes with a charger. Just plug it into a regular outlet.

    Usually 57-60 mpg.
    In the winter 47HV. 49-55 EV/HV.

Right, as opposed to mpg I was wondering overall range in miles.

How much of that total would you estimate is cumulative EV mileage?

Plug it in 7 nights. Drive 500-600 miles in one week on one tank. Conservatively 70 miles a week are EV only.

you have a 10 gallon tank, so depending on how you drive, and when you like to fill up, you can easily go 500 miles until the last pip starts flashing at 8 gallons used. any more depends on how often you can plug in.
my current tank is at 1,100 miles, and i still have 6 pips left. but all my driving is local.

@Air_Boss, range both for HV and EV will vary hugely depending on the type of driving you do.

I commute to work 9.8 miles each way, four days a week. Normally, I have no trouble driving those miles in EV only since I can charge at work. I usually have a couple miles left, in fact. But now that it's getting into typical FL summer weather, the air conditioning takes a big enough toll that I often have to burn a little gas on the way home. But I also have lots of driving beyond my typical 12 mile battery range, most of it in heavy, 60 mph traffic with lots of stop lights. Overall, I have about 42% of my miles in EV. That gives me a raw mpg right now of almost 90. Right now, my HV mpg is averaging a little over 52, but there are lots of times the ICE just has to run long enough to warm up because I barely out drove my EV range or was forced by traffic to punch the accelerator.

With a full tank and a full battery, the displayed cruising range estimate is a little over 500 miles. My actual tank range is typically about 800 miles. I could go more if I wanted to push it, but would gain nothing except bragging rights. Since all but one of my local friends get less than half that many miles with bigger gas tanks, I think I already have sufficient bragging rights. :D

The biggest factors affecting range are almost the same as for the regular Prius. Temperature, speed, tire pressure, traffic conditions, number of short trips per tank. Except that, with the PiP or Prime, you don't have the short trip penalty as long as you can keep it charged up. @bisco, for example has lots of short trips and buys gas about every couple hundred years or so. ;)

Exactly Bisco. The more charges I'm able to do between fill-ups, the more I get out of a single tank. On weekends, I plug it in after short hops every time. Almost don't use a drop of gas Saturdays and Sundays.

@Cheebs631, I don't think we asked you: what are you replacing it with?

I'm having major second thoughts about letting this car go. Decided not to sell just yet. Can you please delete this thread. I appreciate your help and sorry to take up your time. I might revisit the sell option next year. The new Prius Prime will have to wait.
