Okay, so I have a 2014 Prius 2 that I'm looking at buying from a Toyota Dealership with 47,000 miles on it. They are asking $15,800 on it, but I was able to talk them down to $13,500. I test drove it and it seems to be in perfect condition, and it is also Certified. The only thing I'm weary about is not having a back up camera. I have heard you can install one after purchase if you bring it to a mechanic, so that'd be nice.

The other Prius is a 2014 Prius 3. This one is not certified, but it is from a Toyota Dealership with 36,000 miles on it. They are asking $14,800 for it.

What would you all recommend. They both seem to be in perfect condition.

What is the difference again between a 2 & 3? I'd personally go with something that has more options I like, less miles..even though it's not "certified" who cares, just look at the CARFAX and make sure it's no more than 2 owners and no accidents or frame damage.

i'd go with the 3 if it proves out to be a good one, and you can talk them down.

A certified used car would come with a warranty covering you until 100k miles.

If you want a backup camera, best to get a 3 or higher model. Don't install afterwards, it's integration won't be as nice as a stock factory unit

Also the 2 model only has sks on the drivers door, the 3 has it on both front doors and hatch

Wait so, to unlock the car I'd have to do it manually? Or what is smart key system?

i would think about the same as the 2, that would make up the difference between certified and lower mileage/higher package.

Oh wow, I didn't even take that into account, the problem is, the dealership is over an hour away, would it be okay to call them and tell them that I would be willing to come in tomorrow and buy it if they can work with my on $13,500?

With all these potential flood cars available for purchase, you should go see and drive the car

Carfax only shows things that are reported.

My 2005 that I bought for $1400 had a clean carfax, but this car was far from perfect

Don't worry about Mr. Fake News. Accidents are reported on Carfax as soon as DMV is notified (illegal if you don't report it) and as soon as a repair shop sends in the claim to the Insurance company. If it's at the Toyota Dealership they will be the first ones to inspect for bondo, repaint, and/or frame damage if it occurred on or off the Carfax. They will not put a vehicle on front line Pre-Owned (even un-Certified) with any evidence of a collision large or small. I work in the car industry and deal with this stuff on a daily basis.

if you can agree on a price, i would still want a test drive and back out option. if you're not comfortable, there's nothing wrong with the 2, it looks like a great car.

What, you don't like the smell of cheap cologne and Wal-Mart grade suits of salesmen while rigorously negotiating your month payments for the next 5-6 years? lol :ROFLMAO:

no way to know until you try. probably the best you can do is ask for their bottom line.

If someone smoked in the car, you won't be able to smell it over the phone

sorry to keep bothering you bisco, but one of the Prii has black rims, how much do u think it'd cost to put the standard ones on? Also, do you think a backup camera is a necessity? I have a good deal on a 2014 prius 2 but it doesn't have a backup camera.

    no bother, that's why i'm here. :)
not a rim expert, but you should be able to swap them evenly with someone here or crags list i would think.
backup cam was not a priority for me until i got one. now, i couldn't live without it. it spoils you, and the older i get, the tighter my neck gets.
