At 34,186 miles the 12v battery in my 2016 Gen 4 Prius Two had to be replaced. I had to jump start the car three times, and the last time the battery died while the doors were open for just 10 minutes while I loaded for a trip.

The dealer intimated that the battery was on it's third revision (original, A, B). I ended up with an A rev. as the B was not in stock. Very surprised the original battery failed in just over a year.

The nice thing about the Prius is that it can be "jumped" with a handful of AA flashlight batteries. Ask me how I know this ...

i think you are only the second one here? kinda surprised an auto battery would need a revision, never mind two.

The replacement battery was a Toyota branded unit. I didn't look at the original equipment unit, so I am not sure if it was a Toyota branded product or not.

The waiting room had one of these "special" batteries for mobile accessories. Kind of a nice touch.

Well, you could use a jump pack and jump it like any other car. Or, like me, you could "whip up" your own jump pack with 8 AA cells, duct tape and alligator clip leads. Two rows of four cells in series to make 12 volts. Alligator clips to the battery terminals and it started right up.

Gen 4 batteries are under the hood with easy access. BTW, I priced the specified replacement battery: $279.00. 84 month warranty.

That's strangely high, for a conventional battery. More aftermarket (maybe half the price) available in a year or two?
