2016 Prius with no maintenance history, advice.

    Just bought a 2016 Prius three, has 114,000 miles. The seller I got it at 67,000 and for his ownership there is no maintenance history and he just told me he did oil changes whenever the light came on. Would it be a bad idea/overkill to just change and flush all the cars fluids and replace all the consumables like spark plugs and stuff?

    It would not be over kill and would be a good idea especially the coolants (ICE and Inverter), and the brake fluid. Transmission is debatable but it shouldn’t hurt anything. Check the hybrid battery filter, the cabin and ICE air filters too. You can download the owners manual and the maintenance schedule from Toyota for free. Have the 12 volt battery tested.

    Your just about at the first major maintenance point anyway, you might as well do the recommended service in the maintenance schedule, add tranny fluid change and read through the exhaust heat coolant exchanger leak threads and tsb

    Definitely overdue for engine coolant change (100K miles or 10 years), by Toyota USA schedule. Toyota Canada recommends to do the inverter coolant at same interval; Toyota USA delays it till 150K miles or 15 years.

    I'd also consider brake fluid change and transaxle fluid change. Neither Toyota USA or Canada say anything about the transaxle fluid; Toyota USA's also mum on the brake fluid but Canada says every 48K kms (~30k miles) or tri-yearly.

    And you definitely should have the brake calipers off, clean and lube all.

    4th gen EGR should be fine, basically forever. Toyota learned from 3rd gen experience.
