Was thinking of getting this or the GX 550 (if it had hybrid), but ended up getting the RX 450h+

I may get it anyways in future because the LC is historic and we may need towing.

EPA stats for the Land Cruiser:
    City: 22 mpg = 10.7 L/100km
    Highway: 25 mpg = 9.4 L/100km
    Combined: 23 mpg = 10.2 L/100km

Had to get this off of the plain Toyota site:
    https://www.toyota.com/landcruiser/features/mpg_other_price/6165/6167/6168

    Old V8 combined was 14 mpg = 16.8 L/100km

Toyota originally expected 27 mpg = 8.7 L/100km combined but apparently the EPA rating fell a little short. Still the improvement is about 64% over the V8 powered Land Cruiser. Of course the older V8 powered Land Cruiser was more powerful with 381 hp (284 kW) and could tow 8,200 lbs (3,720 kg) versus the i-FORCE Max powered 2024 Land Cruiser 6,000 lbs (2,722 kg). The extra oomph though came at almost $30,000 more, $87,030 starting price versus $57,345 for the 2024 Land Cruiser 1958. The i-FORCE powered (not i-FORCE Max) powered 2024 Tacoma can tow 6,500 lbs (2,948 kg) for comparison. Towing and EPA mileage are not yet available for the i-FORCE Max powered 2024 Toyota Tacoma.

The new one can produce more torque, and as a turbo, can do so at a lower engine speed. The old one's tow rating could have be determined by an older standard, or the lawyers dialed back the new one's. Stopping is also a factor.

A pick up tends to be lighter than a SUV, which translates to higher payload and towing with all else being equal. Plus there is the factor of the wheelbase. The Tacoma is longer, and that helps with towing.

Concur since the 2024 Land Cruiser sits at 5,037.5 lbs (2,285 kg) and the heaviest Tacoma weighs in at 4,485 lbs (2,034 kg). I'd have to offer my opinion to say Toyota is positioning the 2024 Land Cruiser, not as a direct replacement for the old Land Cruiser, but as a mid size body-on-frame SUV option between the 4Runner and Sequoia. Bigger, roomier, more powerful, more towing than the 4Runner but fewer seats and more expensive. The 2025 4Runner will probably use the Tacoma power plant options with the standard i-FORCE on most trims and i-FORCE Max on upper trims to keep costs down.

The 2025 4Runner will more than likely keep the 7 seats and keeping the 7 seats may impact towing and payload. If you want both more than 5 seats and bigger payload go with the Sequoia.
