5000 mile break in point

    im nearing 5000 miles on the odometer. ive read a lot about the car breaking in. what is there to be expecting of this break in point? better mpg? how much if so? what the dealy yo?!

    It's more of a milestone. I've noticed (even after a colder spell) that the engine does seem to have "broken in" as it approaches 5K, and you get better mileage. (It's tough to tell, since I bought mine in winter, and the warmer temperatures contribute significantly to better MPG.)

    That, and you should take it in for it's 5K checkup. (Unless you want to do the work yourself.)

    You won't notice any difference. The break in period passed a long time ago.

    That seems to be the problem, nothing comes to mind...

    5K miles is a nice time to switch to a synthetic oil at that first oil change. Oh, and rotate the tires.
