Zogby International / Associated Television News Poll finds 66% of Voters Say 'No' to New Gun Laws
Tuesday August 21, 6:03 pm ET

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent Zogby International poll question conducted for Associated Television News found that 66% of the American voting public in a recent poll of 1,020 Americans from August 8-11, 2007 (margin of error of +/- 3.1%) found that the American public rejects the notion that new gun control laws are needed.

The poll asked: "Which of the following two statements regarding gun control comes closer to your own opinion? Statement A: There needs to be new and tougher gun control legislation to help in the fight against gun crime. Statement B: There are enough laws on the books. What is needed is better enforcement of current laws regarding gun control.

Conversely, only 31% of the American public think new and tougher gun control legislation are needed.

A majority of voters who support enforcement of gun laws already on the books exists virtually across all demographic groups and in all regions of the country with the only exception being Asian and liberal voters.

That's quite a statement there... everyone favors better enforcement over stricter controls except for that half of the country that's liberal. LOL

That being said, i would certainly support better enforcement over stricter controls, if someone could show me a viable plan to make this enforcement actually work... It's a nice idea to say "the laws are there, we just need to enforce them", but it's another thing entirely to identify what we're doing wrong in our enforcement and develop a plan to improve.

The thing we have to remember is that these people are criminals - they don't care what the law says. In fact, it's pretty much their job to circumvent the law. Is it possible to provide better enforcement against people who are years ahead of law enforcement in thinking about ways to not get caught?

    Yeah eagle:

The crimminals that get caught are the dumb ones, leaving prints at the scene or some type of evidence ath links them to the crime.

Even with the criminal caught on tape theres only a 15% chance they will be convicted of the crime.

Unless its murder, then your screwed cause their looking for a scape goat , even more so if the media gets ahold of it....

We had a teacher that was accused of having sex with one of his female students. (about a yr ago) the media got a hold of the story and crucified the man on TV..
His neighbors vandalized his home & car, they labled him a child molester, he was laid off of work, shunned in public.. Only to find out the girl made the whole story up be cause he had given her an ' F 'on a test..

No, because she earned an F. It's an important distinction that most nice person hats like that girl always fail to recognize. Sorry, that one's a pet peeve of mine. <_<

This is a classic example of why we NEED caning in this country. :D
