I have a 2012 Prius with 92k miles. Today I dropped my car at the Toyota service center for maintenance and they quoted me $800+ for 90K service.

I will share the detailed service tomorrow once I pick up my car.

I just want to know if the price quoted is genuine?

Can you look up and type out what’s listed for that service interval? Don’t just copy and paste; typing it, you tend to cement it, read to understand.

It’s in the Toyota USA Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. If yours is missing you can access and download PDF versions at Toyota Tech Info site.

IIRC the more in-depth brake inspection takes place every 30k, so 90k would be one of those. That alone, done properly, is worth $300~400.

Usually, bogus services like throttle body cleaning, injector cleaning, engine air filter replacement, cabin air filter replacement, etc.

What do you mean by "genuine" ?
That certainly IS what they will change you, if not more.

Typically they throw in some things that are NOT recommended to jack up the price.
Like "flushing" the brakes or cooling system rather than just drain and refill.
Or $80 for injector cleaning which amounts to just dumping a can of Techron in the gas tank.

You should be asking to see a list BEFORE authorizing the service not AFTER.

You can lead horses to water...

    Anyway:

So, according to Toyota USA, once you strip out the fluff:

    1. Replace engine oil and filter
    2. Replace engine air filter
    3. Rotate tires
    4.. Full brake inspection

BTW the air filters take about 5 minutes each to change out yourself. As far as the future recommended services go involving the CVT fluid change, spark plugs and coolant change I would do those at 5000 mile intervals before they are due. At 95K do the CVT, 100K do the Plugs and 105K the coolant so you don't get hit in the wallet all at once.

I'm at 100K, this winter when I have it in for Snow tires and an oil change I'll have the coolant changed. I've already had the CVT fluid changed out around 90K and the Plugs were done at 98K.
