    Only 98 horsepower?

Doesn't the current Prius have 110 combined HP?

Note the word I bolded, then think about it. Go back and reread the info on the new Prius.

MG2: 67hp @1200-1450rpm, 295 ftlbs @0-1200 rpm (somewhat misleading, the motor is capable of this, but the inverter never feeds it enough current to produce this much torque in the car)
    Combined net power: 110 hp

    2010 Prius:
    Engine: 98hp @5200rpm, 105 ftlbs @4000rpm
    MG2: 80hp @?, 153 ftlbs @?
    Combined net power: 134 hp

134 combined horsepower, 98 HP alone for the ICE.

That's good if curb weight holds steady. I guessed 135 last week.

And a 2004 Camry has 157 horsepower, but probably weighs more, so acceleration might be comparable.

The TCH is in the low-mid 8 secs. I'm surprised at the 9.8 sec figure. It's currently 10.3 sec (even though Toyota gave a higher number). I wouldn't be surprised if it drops to the mid 9s. The Corolla with the regular Otto cycle, similar hp (but of course less torque at a higher rpm), 4-spd auto and lighter curb weight does it in just under 10 sec.
