When I set the air conditioning to A/C Auto both the A/C light on the front of the dash and the Auto light come one. Now when I turn off the A/C from the LCD screen (by pressing the A/C button) the A/C dash light stays on. Is the compressor still running? Is this the correct way to turn off the air conditioning?

The compressor will turn off if you turn off the AC button only from the Climate screen. The reason the AC Auto lamp stays lit on the dashboard is because the Auto feature is still attempting to control the temperature and the fan speed, but ultimately, the vents will simply blow fresh air. It's a little awkward, but this is how you get airflow from the vents without having it be baked or cooled.....

Note that the AC button on the wheel acts differently. It turns all the control elements on and off at the same time, not individually like the touchscreen.

If you turn the FAN off, the A/C light goes off. Just like most cars...
