A Prius ECT Spoofer MCU Controlled

That's funny I actually just had my first P1116 of the season. I have typically only had this code thrown maybe 3 times since I've had it installed. I too always carry a Bluetooth OBDII dongle in my car just in case I need to clear a code or read one for a friend. Every time it has thrown a code has always been at the first cold start in the morning. Nothing really unusual about this morning, weather was in the upper 40's low 50's it just decided it was a good time to trip. Still loving this tool, I have a long run out of my apartment complex and even in the mornings I am already cut-over to battery before I hit the main road. In traffic on a cold day I stay on battery far longer than I would otherwise which helps bring my mileage up closer to 50 mpg on my winter commute.

 

Really, you manage 50 during the winter?

Even with the spoofer, my front grill fully blocked and diligent use of my EV button in situations where I know I won't be moving much (parking lots, etc) I still drop down into the low 40's. But I do make a lot of shorter trips, and my neighborhood's a bit of a mileage killer with stop lights every 5 blocks and a seemingly endless supply of rightmost lane tailgaters in huge gas guzzlers...

 

Has anyone bought a spoofer lately? I messaged the seller and got no answer

 

I bought one in September, however it took him a couple of days to respond when I messaged. Considering the cheap price and the effort he's put into making them, I wasn't bothered. He's probably just busy with the holidays and will get back to you soon.

Im about to install it on my gen 2 prius. The problem is that my wife is the one driving it on a regular basis. What happens with the p1116? Can you drive with it until i can clear it at home?

In practice it just means her check engine light will come on. When it does, you should get the code read in a reasonably timely fashion (as you always should for a check engine light) but if the code turns out to be a P1116 you know it most likely popped just because the spoofer is there and you can clear it without giving it any further thought.
