John McCain's Florida legislative leadership team, is arrested for soliciting prostitution from an undercover police officer posing as a transvestite in a public park restroom, but says he was intimidated into it due to being the only white guy in the area.

Guilty Plea Stands, but Craig Won’t Quit Senate

Shortly after a judge denied his request to withdraw the August plea admitting to disorderly conduct, Mr. Craig said he had reversed his previously announced decision to leave the Senate if he could not get the plea thrown out. He said he would instead serve out his third term, which expires in January 2009.

His decision was a major disappointment to Republican leaders, who had hoped Mr. Craig would make good on his pledge and spare them from the potential political liability of having a senior lawmaker who has become a national punch line.

Senator John Ensign of Nevada, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, demanded that Mr. Craig keep his pledge and leave the Senate. “The type of behavior we are talking about here is not exactly something that I think a senator should be engaged in,†said Mr. Ensign, who again raised the possibility of public ethics committee hearings into whether Mr. Craig had brought discredit on the Senate, which could be grounds for action against him.

“I can’t think of anything good about it,†said Senator Saxby Chambliss, Republican of Georgia.

Senator Jim DeMint, Republican of South Carolina, said, “You don’t want to know what I really feel.â€

Mr. Specter said. “Disorderly conduct is not moral turpitude, and it is no basis for leaving the Senate.â€

Republicans were also eager to quickly dispose of a scandal in light of the acknowledgment by Senator David Vitter of Louisiana that he had been involved with an escort service under police investigation for prostitution, and the problems of Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, the longest-serving Republican senator in history, who is under investigation in a federal corruption inquiry.

MJ: This isn't even sport! Easier than shooting fish in a barrel. We know it's all Clinton's fault, Hillary is a <gasp> lesbian, all non-neocons WANT this country to lose the senseless war, and 'tinky winky' wants to covert all infants to gay, but besides these 'realities' you must admit it's entertaining to watch the party of hypocrites self-destruct using the exact same tools they so expertly use against others. Also worth noting that the <hold nose> democrats are not engaging in politics of destruction in these matters, so unlike the republicans who delight in kicking someone when they are down. <<except me, who is delighting in the whole debacle>>

 

Well, well, well. Another anti-gay republican lawmaker is caught, then confesses to having gay inclinations. Although this is almost a week 'old' news I chose not to post about it until it became apparent that once again, this hypocrite's voting record became clear. I believe any consenting adults should be able to do what they want in the privacy of their own homes. But when they are hypocrites they must be outed. As far as I am concerned Barney Frank, an 'out' gay member of congress could have sex at the top of the Statue of Liberty and it would be a non-news event because he doesn't espouse hate against the gay community but then dive right in and enjoy gay sex. Hypocrites on the other hand should be outed loudly, no matter what their party affiliation. Notice in the second article how his public version of the tawdry affair differs from the police report.The police report offers a damning and far different version of events from the brief account Curtis gave to The Columbian Monday, one that seems likely to threaten Curtis’ political future.

The alleged late night encounter is in sharp contrast to Curtis' political persona. While in Olympia, Curtis has voted against domestic partnerships for gay couples and opposed a bill that would have outlawed discrimination based on sexual orientation.

State Rep. Richard Curtis, R-La Center, admitted to having sex with a man he met at an adult video store in Spokane last week, according to a police report released Tuesday afternoon.
The police report offers a damning and far different version of events from the brief account Curtis gave to The Columbian Monday, one that seems likely to threaten Curtis’ political future.
“He didn’t make any threats against this guy (Curtis),†added Castanga’s attorney, David Partovi. “This is an extremely a low-level situation that’s being blown out of proportion by somebody who is trying to save themselves.â€

Curtis did not return calls seeking comment Tuesday. He initially told police that he did not have sex with the man but later recanted, according to the police report. He also told police that he thought he might have been given some type of drug because his memory of the evening was hazy.


MJ: Notice I am not pasting the lurid details of the affair, since who cares? What we care about is the constant belittling of a minority by public figures' voting records, and then they 'indulge' in the 'sin' of the community they have publicly refuted. The obvious implications are very clear as far as republicans are concerned. No morals. No personal limits. No right to 'lead' in the public domain. This sickness is party-wide and evidenced by the scandals from Enron's outright stealing of the the California Treasury to hypocritical behavior on all levels including sending other people's children off to war, to giving the least unfortunate a huge tax rebate DURING TIME OF WAR PLANNING, to...well why go on? "Sicko" applies more to a certain political party (and fully, it's supporters) than the title of a movie. Like Daniel, tho to a lesser degree, I think there is very little distinction between the two major political parties, but it will only be by outing outrageous behavior in any party, that we will be able to move beyond.
