Why? The Prius friction brakes are only used at speeds below 8 miles per hour or in a panic situation. It is anticipated that the original pads will last in excess or 100,000 miles.

What do you expect to gain with an "upgrade"?

I had Hawk ceramic pads installed before I took delivery of my car.

    Bling...Bling. :) :)

Great upgrades. 4 piston brake caliper. I don't like how they integrate the brake material on the caliper as I will expect replacing the whole caliper assembly down the road. How bout slotted brake disc?

How silly would four piston calipers on the front brakes and drums on the rear look?

And put a fake caliper around the drum (that has now been painted silver to simulate a brake rotor) and presto - you have rear disk brakes....

Har har har! All right then, I'll go to Japan and get her a *real* Prius... ;)

I guess we'll just look at the Tom's or Hawks...

I can't argue with her about her need, though, given the driving style. She's only had it for 15K and the stock pads are down to 7mm already.
