Aftermarket Stereo Receiver for iPod Classic use - obsolete?

    In 2020s, is installing/using an aftermarket car stereo (double din, navigation, carplay + android auto, apple music) too out of date?

    Is it possible to find an installer or stereo receiver for such use?

    Has stereo installation for Gen2 improved as to avoid MFD or steering wheel control problems?

    Are products, labor and parts cheaper than 10 years ago?

    Went to a local reputable mom & pops stereo installer this week.

    Their employee specialist said that my Prius could not accept a double DIN.

    i am a fan of keeping the stock look. but having convenient features. i went with the GROM add on unit. so i can hook up an ipod or just use a USB drive (have to set up music in folders). i also have the bluetooth attachment so i can stream music from my phone. so all features are retained from the factory. although my bluetooth calls now go through the GROM unit so i use the radio volume to turn up my call volume.

    Not necessarily true.

    Go to Crutchfield and plug in your car year/make/model then select whether it has Navigation/JBL or not then they will give a list of compatible receivers for your car. Granted most of them are single-DIN, but there are a few double-DIN.
