My used Prius has Green Diamond tires which I'll run til fall when I'm leaning toward Blizzaks for our seven month ice and snow season. Opinions or on that brand?

I always use Michelin XICEII tires. They work wonders.

I use the Blizzaks...WS60 I think. I like them a lot, for traction, but I don't think they're low rolling resistance. I take a big mileage hit in winter, but I'm not sure how much of that is temp, tires, or winter gas.

Welcome aboard fellow Alaskan. I am running studded General tires. They stick very well but do take a bit of hit in FE. Are you mostly side roads or do you hit the highway?

Side roads, paved with ice and snow plus in town. No highway. Killer steep driveway with switchbacks, though.

With that kind of driving I would say get the most aggressive deep lug, studded tire you can get.
