Hi everyone. Got my first Prius (2010 model III) on Veteran's Day and the fillup the dealer did when I bought it was running low, as I heard a beep and the one bar on the fuel display was flashing. I pulled up to the pumps at the gas station and it took 9.63 gallons to full! I am ecstatic and love this car. I have been trying to use all the techniques I have learned both here and at the cleanmpg dot com forums. Thank you all for the advice and I look forward to learning much, much more so I can get that mpg even higher.

    Congrats on your new Prius.
Test drove an insight and prius on black friday, went back and bought a "Blizzard Pearl White" Prius III on saturday. My first 100miles of driving has been to work and around the town of Fairabanks in cold weather. Today -25F coming home!

Roy, you should start your own thread about the Prius performance in Fairbanks! I would really like to see how it does up there this winter (I am in Anchorage).

Way to go bennela ! Before you know it, you'll be doing over 600 miles per tank! My first 700 mile tank, I felt like I'd just won an olympic medal . . . . being the nut job that I am. :p

Thanks everyone. Rafiks, I didn't wait until it was empty, but rather when the last bar on the fuel gauge started to flash I got gas soon after. It only took 9.6 gallons to fill and this was the tank the dealer put in, so maybe they didn't top it off. Anyway, I should be getting at least 600 miles per tank from now on and I'll keep trying to get more and more with the various techniques I've learned from here.

One thing I do find difficult though is the gliding on the P&G as it seems this Prius doesn't want to glide well. We use Gen II's at work and it seems they glide easier. When I glide my Prius, It seems to slow down too much. I try and keep just a bit of the beggining of the left hand side of the "fat bar" lit on the HSI screen, as it was advised here, but the car seems to slow down too fast, even on level roads. This is worse at highways speeds (50+ mph). It seems I have to always keep the engine running (right side of the fat bar lit halfway ) to slowly drop speed. Tires are at 40 psi front and 38 psi back. do not know what's up.
