I just became a Prius owner and I have noticed that frequently when I approach another Prius on the road the driver turns their blinker on and quickly then off. At first I thought it was just a freak thing, but the longer I drive the Prius the more I take note of this happening. Makes me think of when I drove a motorcycle and other motorcyclist gave a wave when I passed them. Anyone else having this experience?

Nope. Not in my area. I suspect it's because there's too many Prius's (Prii?) here, you'd be blinking all day. I wish other Prii would blink though.

I've had a nod or two if we were both sitting near each other at a traffic light, but that's about it.

In my neck of the woods if you're driving a pickup you automatically wave at approaching drivers. I think it's in the genes if you buy a pickup. No winks here, it's not manly...:)

In the more rural sections near my home, waving is the friendly, neighborly thing to do. In the towns you do not see it as much. I am not sure pickup trucks have anything to do with it but tractor ownership might. ;)

That's the first I've heard of it. Pretty cool, though, if that's the case. Like the M/C wave you mentioned.
