    Hey all,

does anyone know about a possibility and a android head unit to plug in the OEM reverse camera and the IPA Parking Assistent? Or is there just no way to have android and IPA at the same time?

Would be very helpful, if someone has an idea how to solve the problem

Some of the newer China Android units will let you use the factory camera. AFAIK none will replace a HU with Nav, which I assume the IPA units have.

    AFAIK IPA is separate ECU.

I have idea, but that’s not fact. ;)
As far as I understand Prius, the head unit is a display and an audio unit. So replacing that may loose audio or display function, whatever managed via the head unit, but not the IPA, as it’s separated.
It may be tested if you jus disconnect your HU. If IPA works - of course without backup camera displayed - then it will work with Android too.
Anyhow it may drop error codes, so be prepared.

the main problem is, you havent the possibility to chose what time of parking it should do.

Sorry, I don’t have IPA, I was not aware display is needed. That case I’m pretty sure IPA won’t work with Android as the two way communication will be missed I think.

I have Gen 2 prius with IPA. As gen 2 prius has separate display screen for backup camera so it is working perfectly fine even after installation of android panel. Yes, IPA has stopped working as it says "system not ready". I think IPA needs some sort of activation pulse from OEM head unit. Another option is to take out the headunit pcb and install behind android. This way steering controls will not work with android panel. I am also trying to find a solution to this issue.

Do you mind sharing which head unit you have? I'm looking for one that can use as many stock harness as possible. Specially rear camera and navigation. I have the 2013 gen3 persona I think it's close to a Prius 4 or 5 config.

Thanks for sharing! Did you keep your OEM navigation? I see google map on the console, i guess you need to connect to your hotspot from your mobile device in order to get that working right?

So technically yes you’ll have to use your hotspot however I’m using Apple CarPlay so I’m using the Navi from my phone and also you can use android auto as well what ever floats your boat I don’t actually use the navi from the hu but you can if you want

IC, what about your installation? was it pretty much plug and play, or did you have to do a lot of wiring and try? i read some instruction for similar units, people have to do alot of wiring which could be confusing.

Ok so this is what happened and I’m going to be 100 percent honest when i ordered my radio from seicane I told them what year make a model I had and I told them my unit has factory Navi and oem camera and the jbl package and I want it to work with at lease the camera and the jbl system according to them they said yes it’s compatible that it was going to be plug and play but when I got the unit it was no where near plug and play it was a complete nightmare and I didn’t was to cut my harness so I took my radio to like 7 different audio installer and they didn’t was to touch it so finally I found a guy down the street from me and he was able to order all the harness I needed Olaf and play and I payed with install 200 including all the harness and install and I even added the infinity sub basslink I think it’s called under the seat sub but I put it in the cubby in the trunk so it can’t be seen I can’t complain

Ahhhh.... Thanks for the insight, that's very helpful, that sounds like what other people had experienced in other videos. I will need to find someone knows the wiring first then

Must definitely or as long as all the plugs are plug and play so that if you ever want to go back to factory you can that’s what I had advised my tech under no circumstances are you to cut any wires. I live in Cali and if you near me I can refer you to him just to chat
