Another fun video from Robert Llewellyn ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Llewellyn"]Robert Llewellyn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]) about the benefits of the EV. He also gives counter arguments against the negative nonsense from a certain car based entertainment show - I'm guessing Top Gear :D

Quite informative and interesting. There are a whole load more on his Youtube channel or website if you're interested LLEWTUBE.COM: Fully Charged .

Robert Llewellyn is one of my favorite iMiev drivers. Then again, he's probably the only iMiev driver I've ever met so far.

Awesome! I liked the video on YouTube and then subscribed to the Fully Charged channel. I also shared it in my Facebook account.

Very good rebuttal to the Top Gear / Tesla episode.

This guy is good and a much needed advocate for advanced tech cars.

The argument that a gasoline car can run out, leave one stranded, and they will feel dumb about it a little weak. When the roadside assistance truck arrives with gas can, you'll be on your way. Getting EV towed on flatbed will have you feeling a little more than embarassed. No need to debate, just the way it is. Must plan EV trips including distance / time / place to recharge, obviously.

I didn't know the energy source cradle to wheels efficiency would be 40 g CO2 /km for EV and about 450 to 500 for gas cars. How accurate are these numbers? If the car produces 120 g/km tank to wheels, does getting the gas to station take another 330 to 380? I have read that exploring for/locating and drilling oil and natural gas is incredibly difficult and expensive.

Anyrate, this video needs to go in the other discussion about 'are coal powered EV cars any good'. ( I think that's a very negatively titles thread).

Not sure where he got the figures but I'm guessing they're from a trust worthy source. This guy is a popular and well known tv personality over here in the UK, though the video (and the others) are not broadcast quality but merely from his own blog.

The 40g/km CO2 is a particularly low amount compared to the gen3 Prius whose official UK figure is 92g/km. The average new UK car produces about 120g/km but to give comparison, something such as a Range Rover would produce nearer 350g/km for the V8 4.4 litre.

It is interesting that the FULL well to wheel cost is so significant, though please note that these figures are for the UK where a large amount of our oil is imported. Perhaps they would be lower in Texas or California?

He also touched on the fact that you CAN power the Leaf in a completely emission free way if you source your electricity from a green supplier such as Ecotricity (here in the UK) or similar. You could also use your grid connected PV system to offset your transport emissions too.

Would seriously suggest you check out his website or his Youtube channel for his fun interpretation of EV test drives on a variety of electric vehicles including some prototypes.
