    Hello, Bruce!

I'm new at this, but like you I have only been able to maintain the "no arrows at all" state for a few seconds. I'm a whiz at the "green arrow" battery-only mode, but try as I might, and it may be due to the traffic conditions I drive in, I have yet to maintain a true glide for more than a few seconds.

Keep in mind the Mike's car is a GenII. They were much much easier to maintain a no arrows condition. The newer Prii do not work that way so none of us use the arrows display to determine if we are gliding or not. The best way to judge the ICE status is with a Scangauge or Torque app. Using the factory displays, try and keep the energy bar on the HSI display between the regen section (charge) and the EV section. I.e. try and make the bar disappear completely. When in doubt just have the bar in the first 1/4 of the EV section.

This is what it would look like on the GenIII

Having a Scangauge II in my C allows me to see the "Stage 4 Glide" very easily... the RPM hits zero and The AMP Gauge usually reads between 5.0-8.0 amp draw from the battery..In the C, the HSI shows just a sliver of green..

Aye and a proxy for warp stealth is RPM=960 or 992 and GPH=0 or .02. Or you can simply view Loop after the car has warmed up. Loop = open

I made several attempts to glide today and was able to do it only once. I'm having a hard time making the EV symbol disappear even though no blue or green is showing.

I'm not sure you can reliably get rid of the symbol while gliding. It's enough if you are showing just a tiny bit of bar in the EV section. The energy use is so small that most consider it insignificant.

Max, you are sure doing something right! Very impressive MPG! In another post F8L referred to the following page for description of how the system works. Check it out: HSI

Any arrow to or from the battery can mean anything from a very small amount of energy flow up to about 20 kw. So long as you are close to zero energy flow do not sweat the difference.

Will it actually ever disappear in a glide? I more or less assume that it just indicates that the ICE is off.

^That's what I thought too, considering it's on when you aren't moving at all.

Took it on its first road trip. First half is shown below. I went the speed limit and sometimes a little less. This drive is 20 miles on flat county roads, 30 miles on hilly county roads, and the rest on a four lane. The wind must have been at my back on the way up because I only got around 53 mpg on the way home. Image 1.jpg

I was able to make it disappear one time for a couple of seconds when I was going downhill.

And wouldn't that indicate that the ICE came on? Or no?

It was very quiet like I was in neutral.

I find the ICE can be pretty quiet at times, with a bit of road and wind noise it could become difficult to make out IMO. How fast were you going at the time?

I was between the little space between CHG and EV(no blue or green) and going about 45 downhill.
