Any thoughts on Total Quartz 9000 Future 0W20 motor oil

    It is a little thinner and has a lower viscosity index than Mobil 1 0W20 but it has the proper API and ILSAC approval. I think Total is a European company that was formerly called Elf, they were very big in Formula One a number of years ago. There is some mention of them on various web sites and no one seems to have anything bad to say about them.

    I would not be afraid to use their products. Another possibility is Mobil 1 5W20, it is a little thicker than 0W20 but should be just as good or better in the Prius especially now that summer is almost here.

    I didn't mention it before, I'm from Europe and you just can not go to a shop and get 0w-20 oil, I have send 4 e-mails to local on-line sellers. Only one positive response for Mazda 0w-20, they said it's manufactured by Total, for the price 0f €10.50.

    Will probably just order Total Quartz, it's cheaper (€ 7).

    Yes, I saw your location was Slovinia. Looks like your options for 0W20 are limited but Total may be a good choice. Another option would be to switch to 5W20 or 5W30, which is probably what I would do.

    Its got a really long name. :)

    In any case, one use of the stuff shouldn't have any impact, just try to order M1 in the meantime.
