I was stumbling around the web today and ran into several references to Engelhard's PremAir catalyst, apparently a catalytic coating applied to the radiators of cars, buses, air-conditioners, etc. Engelhard (possibly related to Ford? present as a standard option on some Volvos) claims that this coating converts ozone in the air to O2 as it comes in contact. Several pages around the web indicated that this had widespread possibility for application on air-conditioners in ozone-impacted areas around the world including the LA Basin, and that auto manufacturers that installed this on their vehicles might receive air quality credits in return.

Has anyone heard anything either supporting, or dispelling the merits of this coating, and if it is legitimate, has anyone looked into application of it to a Prius?
