i am on the list for a prius, prefer a touring model and am wondering if i should hold out for one. i have gotten a few calls for base models in colors or packages i did not want but probably in the near future their will be a base model with what i want.

sooooo..... if no one in the NE has gotten a touring in the last 4 weeks i will go for a base model OTOH if tourings are coming in i might pass on a car or two to get one. can anyone share their recent experiences?? thanks

    turboboy,

My experience in getting a Touring dates back to Dec. '07. At that time
the dealer I worked with in Rhode Island told me that only 5% of the Prii
brought in were Touring. They only saw 2 or 3 a year. I don't know if this
is the truth, but there it is, "Scarcer than hen's teeth" as it's said.

If you are dead-set on getting a Touring, you can build one, though it
isn't easy or cheap. Use the search function with "touring model" to bring
up threads a few of which discuss how it could be done.

    Good Luck.

depending on what you're driving now and how bad you want a touring, i would say go with a base. however, i do enjoy the tuned suspension. (i could tell the difference between touring and base, but some others can't)

i got mine in Houston (doesn't help you, i know) last July and only waited a week from the date I called them to the date I picked it up

I was on the list but I bailed when a Standard package #2 became available. It just not worth it, and if you are inland you'll be getting snow tires anyway.

I bought the touring model and glad I did.

Wait for the touring... I was lucky enough to drive both, you should be able to fell the difference and the stopping power and handling is well worth it.

Previous threads have gone in depth on those with numbers.

I was put on a waiting list for a Touring, pkg.6 on May 13th (1st on list,$500.refundable deposit). During that time, I have been offered two basic pkg. 6 but have turned them down, really wanted Touring...any color. Got a call last Friday,Touring, Spectra Blue, pkg. 6! Its Mine! The process has been long but it has helped having Prius Chat to know others are waiting and cars are being delivered. I have been driving Chevy Suburbans for the past 13 years! Can't wait to not always need gas! :cool:Hang in there!
