If you do I was wondering as to if you've had any problems with them.

Offset and tire size would be helpful too.... any issues with rubbing or drastic changes in MPG?

    THANKS!

btw, how reliable are sites like tirerack and wheelmax at giving you viable rim options when inputting car make/model. I'd hate to see a rim listed as "fitting" but end up with incorrect offset etc. Can they be trusted????

(forum search for "18"" came up nil). :D

I guess 18s might be a bit too ghetto-fabulous and wreck my mpg....

I've seen alot of threads about taking a 4-5mpg hit with 17s, might just be worth keeping the OEM rims and keeping the cash for better tires when the stocks wear down.

Actually I've been checking around and found that 205/40 18s would be the same diameter as the stock 185/60 15s @24.4". The main caveat being the extra inch of rubber (from 6" width to 7" width) and the stiffness of the ride.

I have a pretty smooth commute and would only be using these in the spring/summer, and reverting the OEM rims in the fall/winter. If I could find a wheel/tire combo that was equivalent to or less weight than the OEM setup I think it'd work out pretty well.

Anyone ever even TRY 18s on a prius before?

something like this is what I was going for:

    18x7 centerlines alloys. . .205x40x18 tires

about 7 lbs over stock weight per wheel at 38lbs each

average 45-47mpg with them on and about 50mpg with stock setup

    good luck. . .

i had 205 40 17s on my 95 neon and with the sidewall being so small, the ride was kind of harsh, a pot hole in the road put a bubble in one of my tires and actually bent the rim, going 45 mph, thats the only thing im kind of worried about, i think i would prefer 17s with 205 45 tire than 18s with a 205 40

Thanks for the feedback Prius70!!! That isn't too bad of a mpg hit imo...

How long have you been running that setup and have you had any problems?

    hello,

i have 5K plus miles on the setup.

no problems thus far except when i lowered the front too much and ran into rubbing on drivers side. . .different thread. . .you can search under my user name. . .

you will also notice the car does not coast or go into stealth mode as often as before.

try and not buy heavy rims. . .cause the gas mileage hit may not be worth the benefits in the end.

That's a wicked set up. However, on most vehicles when increasing the wheel weight at all, they suggest you upgrade the brakes. I'm sure you know that, and the prius doesn't make that easy. I bet that makes the regenerative braking like.. charge better. Anyways very nice looking.

I still get 53.2. and i have driven over 60 miles with them. If anyone has any questions, just post them here.

    hello,

    wheels are 18inch centerlines

i bought the springs in santa ana, california

search under "blitz springs" and i have the store info in that thread. . .

it's an 8week wait from japan. . .but totally worth it!!

your prius will drive like a different car even with the stock rims/tires

my prius still "brakes" better than my other cars. . .probably because the prius uses the motor and brakes combined to stop the car? i was pondering a disc brake conversion in back, but then you would take away from the regenerative breaking up front. . .don't want that.

impressive gas mileage icecoldmittens, what were you getting with the stock setup?

for those shopping for rims: try and get rims with the proper offset. . .you don't want wheels that stick outside the fender wells

i've got a set of 17x8 inch gram lights that look great in the back, but stick out too much up front. . .last pic. . .
