Thanks! I see that there is a difference in the control valve with the Prius v, the c. I can't see the control valve in the photos. The Gen 4 has a visible control valve. Prius c exhaust.jpg F9966131-FB6E-485D-BF32-FC0E027B85BE.jpg

The upper photo is for a Prius C, and the lower one is of a Prius v.

I can see the control rod for the "butterfly" valve on the Gen 3 Prius and the Gen 4, but where is the control on the Prius c and the Prius v?

These photos are of the Gen 3 and the Gen 4.

They apparently experimented with a different configuration in 2012 with the introduction of the Prius v and the c. Then the reverted to the original design introduced in 2010 for the Gen 4. Who knows?

Do the two temp sensors. Work together? Is the top one only to light up the overheating and the bottom to temp reading only?

The one on the brown and pink wires connects to the ECM and gives a temperature reading.

The one on the black and white wires connects to the combination meter and gives you an overheat light.

Understood now why would my odb stop getting temp reading when I disconnect the one with black and white wires?

It would help if you could indicate what you are using for your readings from the OBD (On Board Diagnostics) and if it indicates which ECU and PID it is reading the value from.

It will probably work out best to keep one thread active on the question so the information can be developed there without being repeatedly lost. It looks like your thread over here might be shaping up best for that.
