I just installed my ddm 35w 4500k hid kit on my car, things were great until I saw a bmw or some nice car with much more light, now I want to upgrade somehow, I'm wondering if the 55w kit is going to be too hot for our projecters? anybody using them yet?

    thanks

No, I have the 35w HID 6000K from hidextra.com and mine are very bright. Who did you purchase yours from? They should be much brighter than the stock halogens.

Yes, ajc and I have the same 35W kit and it is very bright. I can't imagine anything brighter then that is ok to use it in the road.

I dont think 55w will be a problem... normal halogens burns about the same wattage.

If I recall correctly, I don't think it's the wattage problem. I read somewhere and it said it is the heat the 55w generating.

I also just received and installed the same kit from DDM. I was expecting a more white color, but the light is white with a little purple in it. The color is similar to 6000k bulbs. This would be reduction in the lumens from the kit compared to an OEM 4300k setup. I've already emailed DDM and they want me to send pics of the lights.

I would be a little cautious using a 55W kit in our housing. There is not too much volume in the housing to dissipate the heat generated from the 55w bulb. Not sure how well ventilated the housing is, didn't get a chance to inspect the size of the vents.

Thanks for the share. I've 2 comments

First, I like Philip and I do like the QC and their design. With that said, if my current one blow up one day soon, then I will sure to get such kit and try,

But on the other hand, I am concern about 55W instead of 35W. Not sure where I read it, but if I remember correctly, 55W generated too much heat for our housing. If anyone using a 55W for a while, please let us know.

you know, I read the same about the heat but Philip's bulbs don't over heat like Chinese knock offs, but hopefully I'll get plenty of light from these at 35W

here's some bad pictures of DDM 4500K vs PHILIP'S 4300K HID kits (both 35 Watt), I took the pictures 30 feet away from the garage door with the camera set to F6.9 @ 1/4 shutter speed...............

DMM is on the drivers side, the 4th picture,

PHILIP'S is the 5th picture passenger side,

Looks like Philip's is brighter, plus the DDM has a slight purple going on.......

Big price difference, the PHILIP'S kit was $280 and the DDM only $40

Thanks for sharing the pictures. What do you like? Are you going to keep the DDM or change it to Philip? If Philip please keep us update regarding the heat since it is 55w.

both kits are 35w, before I found the philips kit I thought a 55w kit was the only way to get more light, so I'm happy with the philips

Good to know it is 35w as well. Since you said "I'm happy with the philips" can you share with us why? Is it brighter, the color or?

I was looking for brighter, more light and the Philip's kit did it, the ddm kit was too blue/purple (and dimmer) for my taste also

What is the exact part number for the light kits? Are they hard to install?

I had both the 55w and 35w (6K) from DDM. The 55w provides noticeably more light then the 35w. You are safe to use 35w, but for the 55w I would strongly suggest getting a relay harness so that you don't fry your OEM harness. It's a simple install (you run power directly from the battery and the OEM is only used for on/off switch) and it is the best way to ensure that your ballast will always get a strong power supply (they will last longer).

Let me know if you have questions, I have done a number of HID's on all of my cars and always used a relay harness.

Also, there is no reputable companies out there that produce aftermarket HID kits.
