Anyone Watching Ken Burns' "Prohibition?"

    Tonight will be the third installment. I've found it extremely informative. For example, who would have thought the passage of the personal income tax law (1913), reduced the dependency of the federal government on liquor sales? As the economy faltered (the great depression of 1929), tax revenues also plumeted and it was to the feds advantage to end Prohibition.

    Another fact was that most saloons and bars at the turn of the last century were actually owned by the breweries.

    I suspect in tonight's episode, the emphasis will be on the misery, corruption, crime, etc. that came about due to the "good-doers" who promoted Prohibition in the first place.
