I'm referring to Gen 4 Prius owners, not your cars. I am female. I've always been under the impression that Priuses are considered kind of sissy cars but I think the majority of contributors to this forum are male (and I've been on here since 2006). Is it because most Prius owners are actually male, or because it's mainly men who talk about cars?

I'm sure that almost all my cars were female. ie, I've never, and don't plan to ever own a truck.

You could be right - probably more men will talk about cars, and particularly in depth, though there are certainly exceptions - my Dad wasn't interested in cars other than a means of transport, but that didn't stop my brother and I to be walking encyclopaedias about cars.

Why do you consider your cars to be female?
For some reason, I considered my Winter Grey Gen 3 to be male and named him Greylord. The Gen 4 Blizzard Pearl is a girl though - her name is Blizz. And she's a really high-maintenance gal... needs to be bathed and polished all the time.

i guess my prius is a male. most of my other cars are/were females (curved bodies), except for 1982 datsun 310 and 1990 nissan sentra. 2000 subaru legacy felt like a transsexual though.
    wait, you ask about myself?

A good friend named my Ford Focus Diesel "Shermann" - because she reckoned "he" had a gruff voice. I sold it to my sister, who promptly renamed "him" to "Freddie".

Well, that's kind of what I meant.... that some people think it's kind of sissy to drive a Prius.

Gen 3 female owner here! You're not alone lol. From what I've gathered there have been maybe 5 women on here...
Maybe I'm different though, I've always been into more "manly" things like building stuff and electronics.
It is weird how guys usually refer to their cars as female. Maybe it's because they like to ride em but that's not saying much for me...my Prius is definitely a girl and I'm not a lesbian. Her name is Blizzette.

I'm also a female gen 3 owner and my Prius is female. I have just always been a car person. I even met my husband in a NASCAR chat room about 15 years ago. Way back when msn actually had chat rooms.

Yes, what you think, your problem not ours.
I think the prii have less impact, use less resources and move me from point a to point b
If your prii isn't phallic enough for you....you can hang some scrotum off the rear, tastefully, just like this subject.

My Taurus had a male name. The Ranger and Prius female. My first car, a Park Avenue, and current Sonic carry a gender neutral one. The HHR, I never really cared for, and never got a name.

Beyond finding a name that fit, I never ascribed a gender to my cars, and use pronouns based on what feels convenient at the time.

Agreed. And most times those pick-ups roll coal. It is unfortunate that one cannot elicit an appropriate autonomic response in the vehicle with a well-placed kick.
