I've gone through searching and reading pretty much the entire forum on AUX input mod. I am going to help a friend to install an Aux kit for her 2005 prius.

    spec:
    -2005 Prius
    -no nav
    -non jbl
    -no cd changer

my question is, how would I know if she has the cd changer plugs in the back of her unit? and will anyone of those AUX kit work on her system given the above specs?

Thanks a bunch and sorry for bringing up this newbie aux question again.

It should work. You'll find out when you plug it in to the back of the radio. It should be the first plug if you're reaching around from the right side of the display (if you're sitting in the driver's seat).

Which "Aux Kit" are you referring to? As far as I know, there is no (inexpensive) way to get an AUX plug out of an '05. If there is a way, I'd be very interested, since this is something I always wished I had in my (2005) car.

Here's the thread I started over a year ago trying to find options.

DICE sells an AUX input for $99.

BTW, all the Prius stereos have the proper plugins for this kind of thing, does not matter on the year or package type.

OK. Cool. Good to know. Now I just have to decide how cheap I am. I think $99 is still in the "too expensive" range for me. :)

fast replies. Thanks alot guys. I was looking at the PER-PXDX AUX2CAR kit along with the extra cable needed. or the USA spec DF-TOY from my tundra. but not sure if that one would do it

They're my competitor and all, but anything USA SPEC is total crap. They suck big time. The only tme they work well is on older car stereos.

That said, don't pay too much for one of em' at a store. They sell them to places car stereo dealers really cheaply and then the dealers add a huge markup for one.

May I suggest that you support the Priuschat forum by shopping through them. Ask Danny and see if he can get just the AUX kit but for now I'll link you to this:

    http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php.../products_id/66

That's the Ipod kit but it also has the AUX 3.5mm jack included.

Yup! That's all you have to do. The car will think you have a 6 disc changer installed. You would choose Disc 5, Track 2 to turn on the 3.5mm AUX jack. Track 1 would be for the iPod.
