Awesome start of a tank

I seriously doubt that it's consistent. However, 177 miles for the first pip is what I got for my all time record on a tank of gas. MFD miles said 69.9 mpg and calculated said 66.7+.

Until last week, I had not seen more than 226 miles on the first pip. This tank I thought my gas gage had broken as I went 265 miles on the first pip. I am now at 80.1 mpg after 380 miles on this tank. I think I have a shot at 1000 miles for this tank.

 

There is nothing like the feeling of hitting 200miles and still on the first pip. Since I drive 98% freeway it is tough for me to see those numbers often. Good luck on this tank!

I see your general mileage this year has been a lot more than mine.
If the gauge is consistent between your car and mine, you should get about 830 miles on your tank.

I'm not sure why you guys are blessed with such large tanks or if you chose to run a tank to the dangerously low level. Even when I can get 200miles on the first pip I still end up having to refill before the 500mile mark to play it safe. I usually do this when I am down to two pips. Are you guys going much lower than that?

I've taken it down to a blinking single pip... and the tank still only took 9.5 gallons

I take it down to the blinking pip as well, usually will take about 10.3 - 10.9 gallons from flashing.

the fuel gauge is quite odd, I have seen it lose a pip as early as 70 miles, and I have seen me go 180 miles and not lose the first pip.

On my last tank, I got down to two bars at 460 miles, down to one bar at 569 (yes, 109 miles on the ninth bar) and it started flashing barely seven miles later. I filled up at 583.6 miles and it took 11.04 gallons. The most I have ever managed to pump in was ~ 11.5 gallons.

Well. That beats most of us. I was starting to think 11.9 gallons was an outright lie.

Well not really, but I've never gotten in more than 10.5 gallons, and that includes the one time I ran out of gas.

The time I ran out of gas, it wasn't more than 15 miles, but I was on an up hill when I ran out.

The last time I filled up I'd got about 40 miles (without running out) before I filled up. Basically, I don't trust the pips at all.

I usually pump between 11.3-11.7 gallons of gas on each fill. I did pump 12.138 gallons a few months back; and I am wondering how that was even possible. It was one of the few times I used a different pump than what I normally use.
