Is it Ok to leave the "transmission" in B after the batteries are completely recharged ?? Typically on long downhill runs.
The loud noise change has me wondering.
    Thanx,
    Carl

Yes, long downhill runs are exactly what "B" is for. I've only used it once - descending a mountain pass in Colorado - but it was great; I hardly had to touch the brakes. Though like you, I found the noise disconcerting. The engine made more noise on the descent than on the ascent.

But don't leave it in "B" when you're *not* going down a long hill; it will reduce your fuel economy.

Also, the engine will not shut off when you stop in B-mode

B will never do harm to your engine. Like everyone else said, you can leave it in B, but it will reduce gas mileage. At stops it takes up electricity to keep the engine spinning. In some conditions the engine will run with fuel ( if stopped and in B mode ).

I would have to say B mode is the most common questions. Even my parents ask me about it.. several times. The own the 400h.
