I don’t have a Prime so have not seen this Q asked for the XLE trim line. I have had my Gen5 for a week and regularly check to see how full the battery is. No matter what I do each day driving wise I continue to see that the battery is three bars short of full. What can or should I do to make it fully charged?

So you have a regular Prius?

It won’t be full under normal driving for longevity reasons. Toyota typically keeps the battery near 60% SOC (true SOC). The top buffer is there in case you go down a long or steep hill so that you can take advantage of regen before the battery fills up.

Once full, the car will actually actively bleed the excess charge. (Usually 1 bar or less).

Thanks for the explanation. I feel like the “red headed stepchild” in this Forum since it seems like everyone has a Prius Prime!
