Very nice, but I'm sure the U.S. will find a reason not to allow it here.

And I'll match your cynicism with the assumption that they'll only sell it in the US or California and not in Europe where it would actually be more suited...

Seems to be the norm for electric cars for reasons I can't fathom.

It's not as if the US could afford to pay them much for it anyway, given the value of the dollar these days... Hell, Toyota virtually has to give the Prius away to you. :D

Extremely practical. Perfect for over 80% of the drivers on the road that commute less than 40mi to work each day.

    Leave it to the Italians...

I already did a thread on this news last week.

The site Admin moved it to the "Other" vehicles thread - News is only for Prius or Hybrids.

    FYI

    Wow,

Of the pint sized electric cars I've seen this is the best looker and also seem very practical. I WANT ONE!

Has that stopped us before? We routinely have electric vehicle news here, and occasionally people put up some threads definitely not related to news.

    Excellent!
I was reading an article in Automobile magazine yesterday, where they drove several of these small car prototypes from several major automakers (yes, several major automakers already have prototype small cars), and the magazine staff said they were very fun to drive, handled like normal cars, EXCEPT unlike normal cars, these cars were much easier to weave in and out of traffic - Plus, as a solution to traffic congestion, if everybodys' cars were half the size, the roads would seem twice as big; and congestion would be relieved. (how many semi-trucks and suburban-XLs can you fit in a one mile stretch, versus how many Smart cars can you fit on a one mile stretch?)

Rybold, your arithmetic is skewed by living in SoCal; most of us do not drive bumper to bumper :)

I can just imagine what it's like driving one of those little buggers between two trailer trucks on route 95 at 65-70 mph.

If that's all you're doing you better be in the right lane with your flashers on. Yesterday I was doing 80 to keep up in the left lane just to go to the Maryland House rest stop.

That's exactly what other people say about the Prius. :sigh:

Obviously we should all be driving semi's at 90 mph to be safe.

And for consistency... we should either have the title of this forum changed, or stick to just hybrid and Prius news here. EVs don't belong here. Especially ones that already had threads started here and moved...

And while I'm on the rag already :))) what's up with calling it a Solar EV? Come on. That's like calling a Hummer a hybrid because it has an electric starter motor. The solar lid on this thing might be able to run a fan or two, but it isn't going to significantly charge the car.

Are you kidding? Right between 2 big-rigs is THE best place to draft! :D
This IS one of the nicer looking vaporwares. Now the question is, which one of the vaporwares, if any, will actually make it to reality. I'm still hoping it'll be the aptera ( FAQs ) simply because it has THE lowest drag, coupled with the least front end area ... making the greatest use of all available killowatts.

One more company promising to mass-produce "the perfect car" and roll it off the assembly line in a year. Yawn! Wake me when you can actually buy one.
