Beep to Find your Car in Parking Lot?

    Unless I'm missing something(?), it seems the Prime doesn't have an option on the remote control key for your car to beep/honk so you know where it is in case you forgot where you parked it in a large parking lot. There's the "panic" button for when someone is trying to steal your car according to the manual, which I assume makes a super-loud crazy sound (I haven't tried it), but is there anything just to have your car honk briefly to help you find it without scaring everyone in the parking lot? On the Honda Civics, if you press the "LOCK" button a couple times while it's already locked, it would honk the horn just a bit so you could easily find your car.

    Anything like this for the Prime? Or is your only choice the "panic" button?

    Does it beep again when you hit Lock, even when the car was previously locked?

    On my older generation Prius, the limitation is the radio range of the fob, not the audio range of the beep.

    When I unlock my 2012 v it beeps twice and flashes the parking lights, when I lock it back it beeps once and flashes the parking lights. I can do this over and over finding my car. The panic button honks the horn and flashes lights until you find your fob and turn it off. (I have never deliberately used the panic feature)

    "Operation signals
    Doors:
    A buzzer sounds and the emergency flashers flash to indicate that the doors have been locked/unlocked. (Locked: Once; Unlocked: Twice)"

    I've only used the "panic' button once when I saw a group of interested observers closely examining my registration plates on my 2009 Gen II just after I changed to the "vanity plates" now on the car. It was in broad daylight, and I was glad to discover that they were merely curious about the meaning of the word (they were obviously not from the south west UK! :rolleyes:)

    On my Hyundai if you got the panic fit a quick second it would honk and flash lights a few times. To activate the panic you would hold the button. Haven't tried on my Prime but I thought it would be similar.

    I think most cars do this, but might be something you or the dealer has to set on or off.

    For my Citroen I just double click the lock button after it already locked. It doesn’t make a sound but the lights go mental for 10 seconds or so.

    toyota doesn't honk. just a quiet beep and lights flash. i think you can hit the panic button for a quick horn, then hit it again to stop it. give it a try and let me know.

    Apple Maps on the iPhone will pinpoint your car's location if it was linked to the car via bluetooth...

    Next time if I can't find my car in a giant lot, I will indeed try the Panic button and see how it works... Hopefully it can be switched off quickly.

    Used the red panic button for the first time the other day just to try it out. I remembered where my car was, but it was a giant parking lot with no one really around, so I thought I'd give it a try. It is loud, but not "call the war department" loud. Which means it's a viable option if you park and don't remember where it is (though I wouldn't do it more than you have to, for it still is annoying). Only thing is, I didn't test the range (how far away it might work with a new fob) because I knew where the car was and was relatively close.

    Well, it works (at least not too far away) if you need to find your car in a sea of cars... though that would be one idea for a later model to improve upon (allow it to honk slightly like the Hondas do)...
