Beware of the placement of floor guard in prius C as the gas pedal is very low to the floor.

This is unacceptable behavior. If it's repeatable you should have the car towed to a dealer so they can experience it.

 

This may seem like a stupid question, but, do you have the mat locked in place? Do you have an aftermarket or second floor mat on top of the first? Did you look and see if something is touching the pedal, or if it can get caught under something after you depress the gas pedal?

Do you have anything connected to the obd2 port?

Do you have really intelligent friends who may have hacked into the car and hidden a laptop anywhere?

 

The engine speed alone doesn't control the power to the wheels.
Take it by the dealer if any symptoms remain.

 

If you are sure about the pedal being obstruction free, you should bring it to the dealership and tell them what happened. That is NOT something to play with. As a reminder, if for some strange reason the car accelerates, familiarize yourself with the proper procedure to turn off your vehicle. I don't remember if the C has a Start/Stop button, but if it does, you have to hold it down until the car shuts off.
