Bluetooth problems

I have a 07 touring with navigation. The bluetooth has worked great since we purchased the car. I had to do a "hard" reboot of my phone and then started having some difficulty with one remaining issue. when a call comes in, i used to hear the ringing on the car speaker system and would answer the call. now, i do not hear the ringing and only know a call is coming in when the radio stops playing. i say and there is a caller on the line. any ideas of how to get it working properly again?
