I'll be upgrading my phone very soon and was looking at the Cingular Motorola V557. Just wanted to know how many folks are using this model and if you have any problems

    Thanks

I used to have a V551 (prior version of V557, same look).
Motorola Bluetooth, in general, works great with Prius. Phone contact transfer is one-by-one.
    Other than that, no complaints.

One by One? Does that mean I can't copy the phone book at one time? I must do every number one at a time?

Yes. Unless I am mistaken, most cell phones available today do not allow one-time transfer of all contacts.
If this is very important to you (say you have many contacts), make sure you find one cell phone that can do that for you. My current phone Sony Ericsson W600i can transfer all contacts with one button. However, I haven't tried it personally since all my contacts have been in Prius thru V551 (done one-by-one).

I just picked up the W600i and I'm having a hell of a time syncing my contacts...care to share how to do it? I can't even get it to stay connected to the car!

    BellBoy,
    Sorry for the late reply.
To those who have "drop connection" problem with SE W600i, make sure you have the
    Bluetooth -> PowerSave
turn ON (default from factory is OFF)
This prevents the W600i from seeking for Bluetooth constantly and trying to connect with any Bluetooth devices
within range. When it does, it drops the connection with Prius!!! Dumb? I know. Once PowerSave mode
was set to ON, I have experienced very few dropped connections. The connection strength between W600i and Prius is not as strong as my old V551 (aka V557).

Synching contacts: As I have said, I found the way to transfer all contacts from menus of W600i and personally I haven't tried it yet.
Address Book -> Options -> advanced -> send all contacts
it will ask for "which way" to send, choose Bluetooth

I know my old Siemens, and my current Nokia, both allow a "send all" from the phone book.

The problem is the Prius doesn't properly handle multiple contacts in a lot of cases. It's a poor BT implementation in that respect.

I have a V551 and don't know how to transfer the phone contacts from the phone to the car. Can you tell me how to do it?

    Thanks!
