Hello, i am Philippe, from France.

I ordered a 2010 Prius Dynamique few days ago, and i have to get it on saturday. The first try of that car was amazing ... such a silence, incredible ! :) (my car will be pearl white, with navigation pack).

It will be my everyday car, replacing my 20 old diesel Ford Escort :D

I also have a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta88 Coupe as collectible (in France, full size american cars are not common because of fuel consumption and oversize for our little roads :p ). You can have a look to my website: americaines-bretagne(dot)fr ;)

I like photography, old cars and motorbikes. I am a co-administrator of a website wich displays pictures of airplanes, helicopters, in Europe (and a little more !): holding-point(dot)fr

Now it's time for me to read the topics !

    Have a nice day ! (it's 8:00am here :p )

    Ah bonjour Philippe

Hope you are liking the Prius. Great arn't they? They are quiet compared to a petrol car, but compared to an old diesel they are heaven.

If the Prius a rare sight in France? I have picked up a few French businessmen in my Prius (I am a taxi driver in England) and they have all said it is the first one they have seen, let alone been driven in.

    Hello,

yes, there is a huge gap between a 20 old diesel car and a 2010 Prius ! :D

There is some Prius in France (not as many Renault Clio :D ) :). I didn't see a lot of Prius 3, but i see sometimes some Prius 2.

I discovered the Prius 2 when i worked for a rental agency.

Perhaps in big cities there is more Prius than in west-france

So, there are some Prius, but it's not a popular car yet ;)

Allo, Philippe. Nice to see some more international involvement. Yes, the roads and cars - not to mention trucks - are somewhat larger over here.

Any pictures of TGVs on your site? That's my favourite train. :)

Salut! We'll be bringing our Prius III to Bretagne in May/June but further south nearer to Vannes. We'll keep an eye open for you! You live in a beautiful part of France too...

    I reply to everybody ;) :

    - first, thanks for your messages, that's very nice :)

    - as soon as i'll get my Prius (on saturday if all is all right) i'll post pictures :p (hope you like the contrast between a brand new car and old houses ! i'll try to make some great pics in a few days).

    - i have no pictures of TGV (train à grande vitesse) on my website, but i have some on my harddrive ... i'll try to find them soon; it's a common train here :)

    - Merci Eoin, il y a beaucoup de sujets à lire, c'est très instructif; thanks for writing in french ;)

    - 4540: yes, Brittany is a great place. I'm often near Concarneau, not so far from Vannes (1h by the N165). All this south part of Brittany is very beautiful and fits with a smooth ride in Prius :)

I appologize for my english, it's been a while since i did not practice it !

Glad to read your comments

No apologies necessary for your English, Philippe - you speak it far better than most of us 'parlez Francais, certainement.' I can manage a few words here and there, but not real sentences.

Old houses and new cars are fine! My house is old, too (70 years) but only by North American standards, not European. I'm looking forward to your photos. Yes, of the car, too. ;)

Since yesterday, i have my Prius ! First run of the car in june of 2009, just has 5000km; it's a "Prius Dynamique" with navigation.

My firsts impressions: smooth, quiet, and "zen" No agressivity :p

I don't know about anybody else but does that town in the pics look nice. Where is it in France? I'm hoping to pop over to France for a week later this summer.

The town on the pics is "Saint Renan", it's about 10km north-west of Brest.

Brest has been fully destroyed during WW2 by the English and Americans (because of a big U-boat base ... wich is still here ...). Brest is not an old town, and is not particulary beautiful; but the coast has to be seen :)

So ... i'm going back to read the owners manual ... with this car it can be usefull :D

Yes please! Although, try to avoid the Engrish (which hopefully has not made it into the French owner's manual).
