Unlike some of our members who try the Prius and then go to something else, I must be the exception as I have just purchased my third Prius in 3 years. I basically wanted to get a more "loaded" Prius than my previous package #3.

The deciding factor was the Toyota options bonus now in effect. Discounts range from $600-$2000 depending on option package. I bought the Silver Pine Mica package #5 which nets a $2000 discount over previous prices. Add the dealer discount of over $1200, it made it one heck of a deal. Since the dealer had no package #6 cars in stock, I added the leather at a local aftermarket place that does mostly dealer work.

Anyone else take advantage of the new bonus discounts?

Do you currently own 3 Priuses? Or have you traded in each time?

I traded each one in on the newer year's model. Since the supply of Prius has been caught up, each year my trade value for a one-year vehicle has decreased from $22,000 for my '05 to my '06 at $18,500.

How much did the aftermarket leather cost? I won't be looking for that right away. I have to wait until my grandson who likes to put muddy feet on the back of the driver's seat to grow up a little more.

I'd assume the leather is easier to clean mud off than cloth. But take it from a parent of a 3.5 year old, this product is your friend in any event.

    What did you pay?

I am shopping in Atlanta area, and the dealers are playing major games with pricing.

What are the expected prices with Toyota specials for packages? Then what discount could I expect off of that?

I have a trade in of about $13000.

These dealers are charging a $599 doc fee and a $599 dip fee (what ever that is). I already told them I would not pay. They backed down immediately.

    Does one need stability control?

The option I would really like is leather and camera. From what I hear the sound system and blue tooth are not really worth it.

Best price so far is $23000 plus tax and doc fee and license. I need somethin around 21,000-22,000

My leather was $950 which was a dealer special price. On my previous Prius they charged me $1100 plus tax.

I paid a cash difference of $7964 including tax & doc fee . Besides package #5 I added leather and XM radio which was included.

It broke down as follows: Prius $25880 (MSRP $26417) with a trade of $18,500. Keep in mind that the MSRP does not include the leather or the XM radio. They were all bundled into the price.

I have been inquiring the local dealers here in Oklahoma and checked some of the online sites that tell one what a car costs and I think I got a deal. 07 Prius with package 2 and the Extra mile package for $22,800.
He wanted documentation fees of $199.99 and I said no deal and he said ok, I'll go for $22,800 even out the door. Those doc fees are indeed a rip-off. All they do is send a runner to a tag agent leave the papers (receiving a certain amount of priority) and then the state mails the title back to the dealer and he sends it to me via certified mail so I can buy the tags. Did I get a good deal huh??
