On my 2004, right next to the aux battery is a "Brake Control Power Supply" (BCPS). I'm going to replace the aux battery and have been studying the steps listed on pages 19-2 through 19-4 of the 2004 Toyota Repair Manual, Volume 2. It mentions disconnecting the leads from the BCPS, but leaves it in place. It seems to me that removing the BCPS hold-down clamps and moving it away would make it easier to r&r the aux battery. Anyone done that, or did you just fight around it?

You are right, it is much easier to move the brake power supply to gain access to the 12V battery, and the wiring harness has sufficient slack so that it is not necessary to disconnect the connectors.

Thanks, Patrick. Now I just have to decide how to insulate the positive lead from touching body metal.

One easy way is to put the positive battery terminal in a ZipLoc bag.
