Broken axle or drive shaft?

    Daughter sent me a pic of her gen 2, with a broken axle or drive shaft.

    drivers side.

    2006.

    What am I looking at? And does someone have a part number?

    it appears to be half of a shaft if that helps

    The picture was taken on the driver side of the car, standing at the mirror, facing the front of the car.

    rack and pinion?

    steering rack.
    The transaxle shaft is the shaft just a bit further back in the photo, about 2x the diameter

    new ends are available on Rock Auto pretty cheap...
