Has BYD (other than leased fleet vehicles in a handful of test markets) been approved for the USA market? Last check - weren't they still going thru crash worthiness tests?

Perhaps they are waiting on GM to rebadge their BYD EVs and sell them in the USA.

GM is too busy rebadging Chevy EVs for Honda.

The first BYDs should be on the road here within the next few weeks.

They've already taken more than 4,000 orders, which is a lot in a market where fewer than 10,000 EVs in total were sold in the first half of this year.

From what I'm seeing, I doubt you're going to get BYDs in America now, because of the Inflation Reduction Act.

You're also unlikely to be able to keep buying Shanghai-built Teslas. And you're unlikely to be able to be able to buy the basic-battery Model 3s and Model Ys, as their LFP batteries are from BYD.

I think Tesla is working on LFP versions of their 4860/4680 cells.

Yes, but at the moment even they would be using Chinese cathodes, so they're not going to work under the new rules either.
