The spreadsheet I use to calculate miles per dollar also take into account the cost of the vehicle, insurance, mods, etc. I was surprised to see that it basically costs me about $26 a day to have the Prius or about $0.78 a mile (1.28 miles per dollar).

I never thought of adding the cost of your time in there. Too bad their calculations do not allow you to enter what you think your time is worth.

I get 20.52 MP$ at my current 59.5MPG average. But I like to calculate it by how many cents per mile. I get less than $0.05 per mile @ 59.5MPG with less than $3.00 gallon gas. Its like throwing a nickle out the window every mile. Just whish I could catch all those golden dollars coming from the SUVs  :D

I got news for you: those dollars aren't golden when they're done with 'em.

Pretty cool, only average about 47mpg because I live in roller coaster type terrain plus it's CA where gas cost is on the higher side so I'm getting just under 15MP$.
Compared it to my old vehicle (Chevy Avalanche) and figured out I'm saving around $1250.00 per year in driving to and from work alone (12 miles one way).

holy cow - it costs me $5 (round trip) to drive to work a day! I could of calculated this by dividing how much I spend a month on gas by 30.

It costs me 50 cents a day to travel round trip to work. Guess I don't want to find a longer route after all.

Keep in mind that if you work M-F, then you drive to work around 20 days a month.

My round trip to work and back is about $2.75 a day. $55.00 a month. $506.00 a year if I don't work any extra days. Doesn't include extras like classes, conferences, training, etc. And of course, gas *will* go up.

And that's only work. I'll probably spend about $675-700 this year on fuel. Not bad. Especially compared to my last car that got around 23 mpg.

If I get a job at a new elementary opening in Fall 2007 in my community and the 2009 has the plug-in option, I can get an EV switch and do the entire thing in stealth. Sweet.

$6 total per day, so I think still cheaper than Metrolink with monthly pass + company discount.
