can a gen 3 fob be programmed for a gen 2?

    I see gen 3 fobs cheap on e bay and I was wondering if anyone has tried them on gen 2 cars using techstream.. Id like an extra fob but don't want to drop 50 bucks on a used one if I can get a gen 3 for $20
