I am a newbie. Because of the budget, I only can afford basic package.
I have a question? Can I upgrade my mirror to homelink version?
I want to program the garage opener. Or is there any way I can make it work ?

    Thank you so much.

I do know you can buy the mirror by itself (with the HomeLink) after
    you buy the car.

What I am not sure about is what kind of power connections the mirror
    itself might need.

Hopefully someone else will chime in here.

It is possible, IIRC, but you have to run the power wires up along the front pillar on the driver's side. You'll have to avoid the airbag when doing so.

In short, while it is possible, it isn't a simple "plug 'n play."

Yep. The mirror is by Gentex (division of Johnson&Johnson I believe).

You can get any auto-dimming mirror you want. (compass, homelink, OAT or just the dimming mirror).

I don't remember the homepage address so just do a quick google on Homelink and you should find the Homelink website. Then use that to link to the site that sells those mirrors.

Mine was done at the entry port but my parents had one installed on their Maxima by the dealer. If you are not comftorable with the installation then use a manual garage door opener and at some point in the future get the dealer to install it.

yeah, you can upgrade. Well, don't know if you can or not, or if you need someone to do it for you, but it can be done. I would get a dealer to do it.

    Good Luck !! :D

As aaf709 says, you'll have to remove the plastic cover over the A-pillar at the driver's side windshield.

It is dangerous, however, to work this close to an active airbag. You risk detonating the airbag by disturbing it. You can be injured, and a new airbag is expensive.

It's safest to have a dealership or body shop do the installation; both shops know how to work safely around the airbags.
