can someone find the article or EPA (?) document that states the average curb weight of US vehicles?

    I remember reading within the past 6 months that the average curb weight of vehicles in the US (cars and light trucks combined) is now around 41xx pounds. My Google kung fu isn't quite good enough as I can't find the document or articles about it anymore.

    The official government page might have been from the EPA, NHTSA or some other government agency...

    I'm not talking about the stats at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/cafe/CAFEData.htm either.

    Thanks, a very interesting page. Who'd have thought 1987 was the automotive peak year for average mileage, 22.1? Or that 4WD would go from 3% in 1975 to 29% in '06?
