Can you check how many miles since last oil change?

I know the light comes on to service the car at 5000 miles since last oil change. But I was wondering if there was for lack of a better term "hack" to find out how many miles you have gone at any point in time.

I am asking because I might have mistakenly reset the oil change interval. If I could tell how many miles it shows now I would be able to tell if I reset it or not. I normally do not write down the odometer reading when changing the oil and just rely on the light to let me know.

If there is not a way to check it I am just going to go ahead and change it and reset the service interval.

    Thanks.

Oil changes are cheap, just change it and reset.

    In future keep a log.

I'm always reluctant to "buy in" to the car's record keeping offerings. I use them, but just for back-up. Another example is if you're trying to track mileage. At the outset I used the tripmeter to determine distance travelled, but it's too easy to reset. I continue to use the tripmeter, but rely on the odometer number.

Many of the oils we use today can easily go 7500 to 10,000 miles. Just reset your oil meter and start over again to 5000 miles. Just monitor the oil level to make sure it doesn't run low. This is such a non issue.

I use the odometer Trip A for oil changes and Trip B for tire rotation.
