Well, I just posted recently about some battery issues and I had suspected a failing battery - Anyway the car wouldn't start this morning and I am not sure if I was able to power it off or not. If the only dash light that is on is a dimly flashing check engine - does this mean that the car is off or still on? What should I do to power off if still on?

Post a photo of the light. The only flashing light I can think of is if the Key fob is removed from the slot on a Non-SKS model.

How about the 12v battery health, what is the voltage at the jump points under the hood?

I can’t say I’ve ever seen A Flashing MiL. It’s either ON or OFF. If it is flashing. I would expect to see the

If you have a basic battery charger, you can connect it to the jump start Terminal in the Fuse box and the ground post just behind the fusebox.

Does the rear hatch open and or the dome lights come on when you open the door?

Jump started and as soon as leads were connected the car was either immediately in accessory or in ready mode. Turned off. Then was able to start. Will be getting a new battery of course.

Out of interest. What would eventually happen if the car was stuck in accessory mode?

So if one is unable to shift to gear, it is not in ready mode right? If it was in ready mode, I take it the battery would be charging. Right when I connected the jump cables and before I hit the start button, the screen with the hybrid battery bar status was displayed - would this screen still display in accessory mode?

Trying to work out what mode I was stuck in and the consequences of not being able to power off the car. Luckily I was able to connect jump cables to another car within 10 minutes, but what if this wasn't the case.... what are the possible dangers besides just completely killing the 12V?

nothing that i've ever read. you just have some electronics pulling on whatever is left of the 12v.

I'm pretty sure that's the only danger, just like any car. Tons of people have drained their 12V by sitting and listening to the radio while in ACC mode instead of just leaving it in READY.

    1. Correct
    2. Correct, the engine will run in Ready mode to maintain 3 bars
    3. ACC mode, yes, just energy display with no bars.
    4. ON mode, energy bars are present and dash is lit up.
