Catalytic converter theft?

    We just noticed today morning that when we turn on our engine that there is a large rumbling sound with a strong smell of gas.

    I attached some photos in the thread. Does this look like a catalytic converter theft to you guys? It's an old prius so I don't think we'll try to fix it if it's indeed missing a catalytic converter, but just wanted to get some eyes to confirm.

    Yes, your cat got stolen. A new one is around 1650 as you can’t use an aftermarket one in California.

    And they cut the wire to the O2 sensor. Jerks.............

    Bring it to SC, I'll fix it up for you.......

    Theft has been a some problem in Ca. and recently in UK...and more expensive fix for you in Ca.
    Not sure what insurance covers.

    That theft should be covered by the comprehensive auto insurance coverage less applicable deductible.
